This episode we finally welcome the very first male guest to the show – the esteemed Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg, Jauffrey Bareille, or Bai Zeyi among the Chinese community in Luxembourg.

Jauffrey’s journey with the Chinese language began in junior high school in France, where he chose Chinese as his second foreign language. This initial interest blossomed into a lifelong passion, guiding his academic and professional endeavours. His academic pursuits led him to China multiple times, where he studied at the Ocean University of China in Qingdao and gained practical experience working with both local and international companie. More importantly, he also met his now wife during his time in China.

In 2018, Jauffrey took on the role of Luxembourg Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg. Since its inception, the Institute has become a vital bridge between Chinese and Luxembourgish cultures, offering a wide range of courses in Chinese language, calligraphy, Tai Chi, and business Chinese. Beyond language instruction, the Institute organizes cultural events such as festivals, exhibitions, culinary tastings, and Chinese cinema cycles, enriching the cultural tapestry of Luxembourg.

To know more about the Confucius Institute in Luxembourg, head to the website, where you can also watch the popular first season of videos of learning Chinese produced by the Institute with the much anticipated second season in the making.
