About this Episode

It’s true, this is not particularly “our original” music, but it’s part of our history! Plus, it’s a genre worth exploring, as it offers many cheerful, but also melancholic melodies. The question is not “Why?”, the question is “Why not?”. Introducing: Preßburger Klezmer Band, Klec (post-Klezmer) band and our “Queen of Chansons” Hana Hegerova singing the traditional Tumbalalaika in Yiddish. Roma line-up includes Tockolotoc (the band that inspired R.E.M. to use mandolin in their song Losing my Religion), Ida Kelarova and Romano Rat and the late “Queen of Roma” Vera Bila with her band Kale. Enjoy!
