About this Episode
Today, I am honoured to welcome Archpriest Timofey Kitnis, rector of the Clausen Monastery’s Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God, and Elvira Kitnis, director of the Apostle Thomas Centre.
We discussed the church’s history, its restoration, and the fact that services are performed every day. The rehabilitation work is almost completed.
The church just received a new relic: Saint Spyridon’s slipper, transported from the island of Corfu. By the way, many people believe that praying to Saint Spyridon helps with housing problems. Father Timofey also expressed his belief that prayer is a profoundly creative activity.
The monastery also houses a Saint Nicholas relic, which came in an extraordinary manner – a story worthy of a detective fiction!
We also talked about the similarities between religion and psychology,
how a priest feels during a service,
the function of monasteries in modern society,
and the purpose of pilgrimages.
These are just a few of the subjects we discussed; stay tuned to hear the entire chat shortly!
