Since December 1992 Roga’s Sunday programme MALINYé presents what was formerly known as «world music». The kind of music featured in MALINYé is not ethnic music, but rather «Universal Pop». It could be interpreted as a fierce response to the linguistic colonialism of anglo-saxon music or to the commercial imperialism of big media corporations. Sadly, but also fortunately, it appears rather as the subtle adaptation of local music traditions to the globalization and uniformization of music taste. It embraces pop, rock, chanson, jazz, hip-hop, folk, etc.
The musical choice is based on an archive of like 15.000 physical devices (mostly CDs and Vinyl), but also fresh downloads from local labels out there. The show is recorded in a winter garden in the middle of a biodiversity of plants, corresponding to the variety of music. Podcasts and playlists are available thru the ARA website.
